Once or twice a year members of the Tree Society go on a weekend botanizing outing to somewhere where the flora is quite different to that found in Harare or surrounds.
In 2019, the economic situation and the serious lack of fuel put an end to any weekend outings and since then the Covid-19 pandemic has been the problem. However, the pandemic appears to be behind us now and a weekend trips to a remote locations have been undertaken.
These trips are only for members and the next trip is to the Bulawayo area and West Nicholson in early October 2024.
The first trip undertaken since the introduction of the Tree Society of Zimbabwe website was in 2018 to Seldomseen in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe. The vegetation is quite unique to the area although there are no endemics..
After the COVID pandemic was over, a trip to Gokwe in April, 2023 was undertaken to see the vegetation that only live on Kalahari Sands. However there are many trees that also grow on other soils.
Another trip was enjoyed to Kanyemba in November 2024.
